  28. I had the same problem connecting Motorolas 326x V.34 and ZyXels V.32bis.
  29. I believe that's because both V.34 and V.32bis protocols have adaptive
  30. features (i.e. before establishing connection they try to evaluate the
  31. line quality and choose proper transmission parameters).
  32. As a result, while Motorola ("V.34 Auto" Mode) was trying to quess the
  33. required protocol, ZyXel made attempts to optimize its parameters and
  34. that "duel of intellects" lasted till timeout. When I put Motorola
  35. into "V.32bis Auto" mode, all became ok.
